Photos

Here are a few of the photos from the San Antonio reptile show in Live Oak. I will find a place to host photos so that I can load more and have thumbnails etc rather than posting largish pictures here. I do plan on organizing the ones here a bit nicer tomorrow. For now I just wanted to get some of them posted.

The video is coming along nicely as well so hopefully Pete will have that done soon and a link added for those who wish to see it.

I am also working on a separate piece about the reptile shelter. I hope to give them some press so that they might get a few donations to help with food, care, facilities etc for all the animals they keep. I will try to have that up soon.

All in all it was pretty cool show. I've always wanted to see one of the hot shows and this one was. There were spitting cobras and gaboon vipers and loads of rattlesnakes and a beautiful banded krait.

I got numerous shots but venomous snakes are kept in closed, taped containers so some of the photos are rather hazy. Still, the containers are good because a bite from oh, say, a krait would mean death unless you received fast knowledgeable medical help. Very quickly.

Not to mention the need of an iron lung since the venom stops your breathing. A krait was the same species that killed Dr. Joe Slowinski while working in the field in Myanmar. Very sad loss that was.
